Balancing ADIT with work and family life
One of our students came to us wanting to study the ADIT Principles of International Tax but wasn't sure she could fit it around her in-house tax role and a young child. Her employer recognised the value of ADIT for the team's ongoing projects and agreed to fund the course. Thanks to our weekly class structure, she didn't need to request a single day of study leave.
She started her studies knowing she could defer if life got too busy. She caught up on recordings during her commute. She worked through weekly assignments at her own pace. She attended live classes from home, with no travel and no childcare to arrange. She passed first time.
After the course, Kristen, our Client Relations Manager, caught up with her about her experience. It was exactly the result our courses are designed to make possible.

What to expect from your ADIT course
Live classes in small groups, with recordings
Your weekly tuition classes are live and online, in groups small enough that you can ask questions of your tutor and join in discussions. Classes are typically two hours, starting at 4pm UK time, a time we have found works well across multiple time zones. Principles of International Tax and UK Tax run for two and a half hours. All classes are recorded and available on your learning platform immediately afterwards, so missing a session never means missing the content.
Weekly structure that builds understanding
Each week of the 10 or 11 week tuition phase follows the same pattern: attend your live class, complete your reading and assignment, then come back the following week ready to go deeper. Students consistently tell us this structure is what makes the difference. You absorb the material as you go, rather than trying to retain everything at once.
Weekend revision classes and mock exams
As your exam approaches, interactive weekend revision classes help you consolidate the syllabus and focus on exam technique. Mock exams with individual written feedback give you a clear picture of where you stand before the real thing.
UK and Ireland based tutors
All ExtraTax Training tutors are based in the UK or Ireland, with professional backgrounds in the modules they teach. Catriona Loughran FCA CTA ADIT CTC teaches Transfer Pricing and UK Tax, where she is supported by Alyson Sutcliffe.
Associate tutors cover the remaining modules. All work closely with the ExtraTax Training team, so you get the same standard of course regardless of which module you choose.

Personal support from first enquiry to results day
From the moment you get in touch, you'll be looked after by Kristen Gillanders, our Client Relations Manager. Kristen has supported hundreds of ADIT students since joining in 2021. She knows every date that matters, from the CIOT's registration deadlines and exam entry windows to your course's mock submission dates. She'll remind you when each one is coming up, so you don't have to keep track yourself. If you haven't been online for a few weeks, she'll check in to see how you're getting on. Students get to know Kristen well over the course of their studies, and she gets to know them.
Study materials included
Study materials are included in all course packages, tailored to each module. Principles of International Tax and Transfer Pricing students receive an online subscription to the Bloomsbury International Tax Service. UK Tax and Ireland Tax students study from ExtraTax Training manuals, designed to be accessible to all levels of experience, including those newer to the subject. EU VAT, Banking and US Tax courses use published texts appropriate to each module.
All packages also include class recordings, weekly assignments, and access to an online forum where you can raise queries with your tutor and fellow students. Some packages include a hard copy of your core text delivered to you.

What our students say
I studied for three ADIT modules, taking UK Tax with ExtraTax Training and Principles of International Tax and Transfer Pricing with a larger, better-known provider. I preferred ExtraTax Training for several reasons.
Catriona and Alyson are very talented and knowledgeable teachers. ExtraTax Training provides one class per week, rather than cramming all the topics into several full-time days, enabling the classes to go into greater depth.
ExtraTax Training's administration was far more efficient. Emails were answered promptly, rather than several days later.

Sponsoring your team through ADIT
Many ADIT candidates are supported by their employers, and ExtraTax Training works with tax teams in professional services firms, multinationals and tax authorities to arrange group enrolments.
Employer bookings can be arranged by invoice rather than online card payment, with ExtraTax Training set up as a supplier and paid through your usual accounts payable process. VAT is zero-rated for non-UK business customers.
If you are a tax team leader or learning and development manager considering ADIT for your team, we are happy to talk you through module options, study timelines, and how ADIT fits into a wider development programme.

About the ADIT Qualification
The Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is the leading international tax qualification for professionals working in cross-border tax. Candidates must pass three papers: Paper 1 (Principles of International Tax) and two option papers from a range of jurisdictional and specialist modules.
Holding ADIT, or a standalone certificate in an individual module, demonstrates a level of technical depth that goes well beyond generalist tax training. It is recognised globally, and particularly valued by professionals working in transfer pricing, tax treaty work, and cross-border advisory.
