STUDY FOR THE ADIT QUALIFICATION

ADIT

Why study ADIT with Extratax Training?

Extratax Training was set up by an ADIT graduate to deliver top-class ADIT training solutions. We offer online support through your ADIT journey to help you achieve exam & career success.

We measure success not just in terms of achieving your ADIT diploma or certificate – also by how we increase your international tax skills and knowledge to help your career advancement. The CIOT tells us the average age of an ADIT ‘student’ is 36 – we see someone who:

  • Already holds postgraduate / professional qualifications and wants a greater outcome than the “ADIT” designatory letters after their name
  • Is currently working in international tax and sees ADIT as a benchmark of their expertise
  • Has an important, and likely highly-pressured, role to be balanced with ADIT studies
  • Has significant personal responsibilities which also need to be balanced with work and study
  • Is eager to learn and ready to meet the challenges of ADIT to develop their knowledge and understanding of international tax
  • Is ambitious and wants go far in their global tax career

We recognise this person in our founder, Catriona Loughran, and our tutors. That’s why Extratax Training has designed its core ADIT training programmes with your needs in mind.

However, we appreciate that not all ADIT candidates have this background – so we can tailor our training packages to provide additional support when required:

  • For example – maybe you want to study the UK tax module, but have little or no experience in UK tax? We can help build your knowledge of UK personal and corporate tax to the entry-level standard required for ADIT.

If you don’t have enough academic or practical background in an area you wish to study, ask us about our introductory courses which can be added to our core learning packages. We assess your training requirements and provide a wrap-around service to give you the best chance of success.

What’s the style of our courses?

We create virtual classrooms through live and interactive webinars to achieve our goal – empower you to learn in a welcoming and collaborative group environment.

The format of the live-stream webinars is a mixture of lecture-style tutorials, with detailed accompanying slides, and question practice, building to exam-standard questions over the duration of the course. Our ADIT training is delivered by our skilled tutors who have a powerful mix of expertise and enthusiasm.

We limit our class sizes (10 per webinar session) to give you the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions. We recognise the varied backgrounds and professional experience of ADIT candidates and believe in encouraging the flow of communication to allow us to learn from each other.

A key aim is to take the ‘distance’ out of distance learning – a large element of ADIT preparation is self-study and we use closed social media groups for each module to create a safe and supportive community of learners and tutors to enhance your learning experience and grow your network.

Meet Our ADIT Tutors – who:

  • are experts in their field of international tax
  • have ongoing or recent experience of dealing with international tax issues through their work in accounting firms, industry positions or tax authorities
  • are enthusiastic and engaging with practical examples and stories to share.

As a niche ADIT training provider, our tutors are carefully selected based on both their professionalism and personality. Many of our tutors are ADIT qualified themselves – therefore fully understand the knowledge and commitment required to pass these difficult exams – and have a strong desire to help you to succeed.

Our founder – Catriona Loughran FCA CTA ADIT

I established Extratax Training as I want to provide a better ADIT learning experience for students around the world. I believe that ADIT provides a fantastic opportunity for tax professionals to gain a globally recognised qualification and strengthen their international tax expertise. In a world where tax is increasingly complex and globalised, I want to play my part in developing quality international tax professionals who can rise to these challenges and stand out from the crowd.

Why I did ADIT

At the time, I was working in international tax planning in a global accountancy firm, advising UK clients expanding abroad as well as multinationals establishing in the UK. However, I felt that I had insufficient academic knowledge of international tax and, as a result, risked not being able to see the big picture. Studying for ADIT equipped me with the skills and understanding to move forward with my career in international tax.

How ADIT has enhanced my career

When I became ADIT qualified in 2008, many tax professionals were not aware of the qualification and I found myself having to explain it. But this didn’t matter to me, as I’d done ADIT on top of my Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser exams to increase my confidence in my own ability, and having it gave me the courage to seek out opportunities to grow my career. Of course, the ADIT qualification has since become widely recognised and I’m proud to have been the first person in Ireland to achieve it.
